Kayla Timmons (Banana) & Katy Davis (Strawberry) chat with Congressman Peter Welch

Last week I was so proud to attend this year's summer kick-off in Milton.  Thanks to the hard work of Food Service Director, Steve Marinelli there will be five new summer food sites throughout Milton and Colchester.  These meals will mean so much to the children of Milton who for years lost access to free and reduced price meals when school closed for the summer.  Steve worked closely with Hunger Free Vermont to launch these sites and we couldn't be more pleased with the results!  Hunger Free Vermont has now helped launch 209 summer sites across the State of Vermont!  What a team!  Check out our photo spread from this event in today's Burlington Free Press.

Tomorrow is my last day of work before I head out on a two-week summer vacation.  At Hunger Free Vermont we stress the importance of rest and rejuvination, and we all do our best to keep work and life in balance.  While I'm away, two of our wonderful staff will take over as guest bloggers.  You'll be hearing from our Child Nutrition Advocate, Amanda Caron and our Community Advocacy Manager, Sarah Weisman .  Enjoy their brilliance while I'm away!
