Yesterday marked my four year anniversary as the Executive
Director of Hunger Free Vermont. Barack
Obama and I started our new jobs on the same day in 2009. I didn't have an inauguration but I sent the
photo (above) of my welcome potluck lunch to my family and friends. Over the last four years I've been proud to
work with a committed staff and board to grow our organization. We've achieved many milestones that I’m proud
to have been part of including:
- Changing our name from the Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger to Hunger Free Vermont to better reflect our work and vision.
- Implementing a five-year strategic plan to focus and grow our programs.
- Expanding our work to include outreach to seniors on 3SquaresVT.
- Helping more than 1 in 6 Vermonters enroll in 3SquaresVT during the worst recession of our time.
- Expanding the Hunger Councils to five counties in Vermont.
- Increasing the number of meals served to children in schools, summer programs, childcare, and after school.
- Launching an accredited course for physicians to increase screening for malnutrition in pediatric and family medical practices.
I could go on and on about the accomplishments of this
organization. We could not achieve these
results without the commitment of our staff, board, community partners, and
donors. Thank you all for a wonderful
four years leading this effort to end hunger and malnutrition in Vermont. I very much look forward to our continued
work together.
Metropolitan areas that have higher costs for the basic accommodations and other expenses tend to cause higher pay rates as compared to non-metropolitan or rural areas. The city of Burlington has a median annual pay rate of $29,031 for its medical assistants.Medical Assistant Salary in Vermont
