Breakfast on the Go!

We've all been there; too many things to do just to get out the door in the morning. However, studies have shown that skipping breakfast has detrimental effects on your body, including decreased mental alertness and slowing your metabolism down for the rest of the day. A great alternative to skipping breakfast is the very versatile breakfast smoothie. This smoothie provides protein, fruit, and vegetable servings all in one tasty treat. Tailor it to your favorite flavors and I guarantee you won't be skipping breakfast anymore!

Kale and Banana Smoothie:
1 Banana
2 cups chopped kale
1/2 cup light unsweetened soy milk
1 tablespoon flax seeds
1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey

Place the banana, kale, soy milk, flax seeds, and maple syrup (or honey) into a blender. Cover, and puree until smooth. Serve over ice and enjoy!
